Potterycrafts Ltd, encompassing All About Crafts, has become the first importer in the UK to introduce the 70 colours of Cernit Polymer Clay, in close co-operation with the manufacturers in Belgium.
Whilst the Cernit brand has been renowned in Europe and the USA for many years as the ideal Jewellery and miniaturist Polymer Clay, this is the first time the product has become generally available in the UK.
The colour range in 62g packs comprises a notable spectrum of porcellaneous, pearlescent, fluorescent, earth and stone colours. A natural clay mixed with plastic, Cernit is known as an oven ceramic and is soft and easy to work with, straight out of the packet, though over kneading can make shaping difficult as the clay will become too soft. Popular amongst doll-makers, the clay can be hardened by boiling it in water at baking it at 132 degrees for between 15 and 30 minutes. Phthalate-free and boasting a high tensile strength, Cernit can be sanded, carved or filed with a translucent quality and porcelain-like finish after curing.
