Craft shop Elite Fabrics based in Merrial Street, Newcastle, has launched a sewing cafe where needleworkers can hire equipment, use the workroom and receive expert advice and guidance on their projects.
Owner Chris Sherwin told her local paper that her new venture offers people a great opportunity to get help with curtains, soft furnishings, dress-making and gift-making for Christmas.
Chris will be encouraging customers to drop by and learn how to make Christmas presents, and she'll be running workshops and demos, with the first session taking place on 3rd September.
Elite Fabric's launch is the latest in a long line of similar ventures which has seen sewing become sociable. Don't miss September's issue of Craft Business which contains a special report on the phenomenon.
