Spreading like wildfire across the UK, the demand for arts and crafts continues to grow. Fast becoming the hot trend of the year it seems everyone wants to get in on a piece of the crafty action.
Now it seems people are so eager to fill their minds with new ideas that they are heading to the bookstores to find that glimmer of inspiration.
Recent statistics from Nielson Bookscan revealed that the Art & Craft sector experienced the biggest growth in book sales in 2010, with an increase of 12.9% from the previous year. Handicrafts led the way, with knitting, sewing and crocheting seeing the most movement.
It's hardly surprisingly, after the smash-hit Knit Your Own Royal Wedding, sparked a frenzy, and crowds flocked to stores to get their hands on the quirky pattern book. It became a bestseller at Foyles in April, as knitters re-created their own hand-made souvenir of the big day.
Cath Kidston is gearing up to release her latest Sew book, bursting with craft ideas to help enthusiasts decorate their homes, whatever their level of experience. Released on the 16th October, it is set to be another bestseller.
