One of the UK's leading sewing machine specialists has upped its campaign to drive customers back into high street stores. Brother has announced it is to work with renowned fashion designer Sissy Rooney on a campaign promoting customisation, which will see the artist create a selection of exclusive pieces for its agent's clients.
The patterns for the designs – which will show shoppers how to transform an old pair of jeans into a fashionable skirt or bag – will be available for retailers to download via the company's online portal.
Ms Rooney has become a big name in the fashion world over the past few years and currently owns her own company, The Street Style Surgery, which hosts customisation workshops in schools and centres for the socially disadvantaged, those with learning difficulties and young offenders.
Commenting on the growing interest in this area, she says, “It’s a great way to get more out of your wardrobe without spending too much money. My designs give people a first project to try their hands at, but from there, they can customise anything they want, giving them a chance to express their own fashion style. Money’s tighter for everyone at the moment, so it’s the perfect time to give it a go.”
Geoff Taylor from Brother, adds, “Our quarterly trade campaigns are designed to give our agents some added value for their customers, which they wouldn’t otherwise have access to. Offering exclusive designs from someone as talented as Sissy is an excellent opportunity to get more customers into stores.”
He continues, “We’ll be supporting the campaign across the craft media to raise awareness with consumers and drive footfall into our agents’ shops and we’d encourage our retailers to get in touch and find out how they can make the most of this opportunity. We’re committed to helping our partners make an impact with their customers and we believe that added extras like this are one of the ways to do it.”
