After a successful first year with more than 350 active clubs in schools, Craft Club is expanding into museums, cinemas and libraries and other community settings, bringing even more people into the industry.
Craft Club is a national scheme run by the Crafts Council, and supported by Arts Council England, the UK Hand Knitting Association and the WI. It was set up to teach children yarn skills in fun and lively community settings, using the help of volunteers.
Now Craft Club is appealing for more help, so if you can knit or crochet and want to learn how to pass these skills on, why not join in at one of the free Craft Club volunteer training days taking place all over the UK from this month?
There are currently seven confirmed training day locations, with more due to be announced soon.
Locations confirmed are: The Customs House, South Shields, 20 September, Millennium Gallery, Sheffield, 29 September, The New Art Gallery, Walsall, 7 October, National Wool Museum, Carmarthenshire, 14 October, Turner Contemporary, Margate, 19 October, National Museum, Cardiff, 3 November and V&A Museum of Childhood, London, 16 November.
