Registered charity, The Fairy Foundation, was set up in September 2005 by Martin Butler of Groovy Distributions, the creator of the Rock Hard Fairies. The aim of the charity is to support the advancement of children and young people in the UK and overseas, who are unable to progress their education due to social circumstances or disadvantages. The foundation provides financial assistance, both directly, or through the discretion of other charitable organisations. In addition, it will also offer assistance to relieve the suffering of animals thorough the provision and maintenance of rescue homes and treatment centres.

FGS Creative Designs Ltd will be working in partnership with Gill Grant and Gerald Smith from Hobby Habit Ltd. Martin Butler, son of Gill Grant, wanted the company to have the sole distribution rights for the decoupage products. The popularity of the Rock Hard Fairies (RHF) is gaining momentum and US based AOL has purchased 100% of the IPR rights to rebrand and broadcast an animated cartoon show next year. This growing profile will certainly generate interest in the 3D decoupage sheets, which will not only attract a new audience to crafting, but will also assist in providing support to a worthy cause. “We are very happy to support the charity. It is good to know that the money is going to a good cause that is close to our hearts,” explains Tina Fallon of FGS Creative Designs Limited.

Tina also teaches after school classes for children aged between 11 and 14, and has noted that many of them are requesting to use these products. “They are specifically asking for the Rock Hard Fairies which is a great sign, “ she explains. The two forms are ideal to both introduce people to card making and also further their skills. “The kids will often start with cut and make and then, as they get more competent, move on to the 3D sheets. They can achieve great results and also improve their dexterity and creativity,” she adds. The classes indicate that young people find creative pursuits a valuable pastime. “In one case a girl with behavioral problems responded so well to these classes that they were used as an incentive. As a result her manner and performance in school has improved,” says Tina. "The more interests these products generate the stronger the industry will become and the Foundation will receive more support."

The full range of Rock Hard Fairies designs are available on the website http://www.fgscd.co.uk with more being launched at the Craft, Hobby and Stitches show in February.
