The sixth year of the Crafts Beautiful and Let’s Make Cards! Craft Awards attracted a record number of votes in 2010, seeing it maintain its position as one of the most eagerly-anticipated occasions in the industry.
Considered a true mark of quality and voted for by consumers who really care about their creative hobbies, the awards began as a discussion about how to create opportunities for those within the industry to have their efforts recognised whilst giving a voice to the magazines' readership. They have since continued to grow in popularity each year and are now considered one of the biggest events on the craft calender.
Highlighting the best products, designers, tools and materials on the market today, as well as the services and stores that have really stood out over the past year, the awards cover 19 different categories – ranging from consumers' favourite independent shops and gadgets, to the exhibitions and books they've enjoyed most.
The awards will be presented to the winners and runners up at the Craft, Hobby & Stitch International exhibition 2011.
Commenting on the fantastic response, Sarah Crosland, editor of Crafts Beautiful, says, “Now in its sixth year, the Craft Awards has become a measure of distinction within the industry, with a massive number of votes cast in 2010. The results are a wonderful and genuine accolade for those companies and personalities who have offered great service or inspired our readers with their innovative products and creativity over the past year.”
Liz Tuthill, who organised the awards, agrees the response has been great, enthusing, “Once again, we have been astounded by the number of readers and online visitors who have taken the time to vote for their favourites in our annual Craft Awards. The reaction from the nominees has also been fantastic, which confirms our confidence in the process we have in place and gives us great pleasure to be the driving force behind the recognition that the awards provide across the industry.”
Barbara Gray, who runs Clarity Stamps in Kent – the recipient of this year's 'best rubber stamping range' award – says receiving the accolade has given her and her team a great boost. “We are so delighted to receive this special award! There’s nothing like a pat on the back for spurring you on.”
