Julia Roberts has emerged as the latest convert to catch the knitting bug, resulting in much hilarity on the set of her latest film, Larry Crowne.
Co-star and director of the film Tom Hanks decided to play a prank on the actress and by sending out for needles and skeins of yarn from a nearby knitting shop, and made the rest of the cast and crew sit and pretend to knit, to make it seem like everyone else had caught the knitting bug too.
According to sources Julia fell hook, line and sinker for the prank, offering to give tips to her new knitting buddies.
In fairness to the actress, Tom had gone all out to pull the wool over her eyes, ordering everyone to gather in the morning before Julia arrived at work to take a quick knitting lesson, so that all the runners, extras and lightning staff would look like they knew what they were doing.
The whole thing was caught on camera and it's being used to promote the new film.
The actress admits she was thrilled: "You walk into a room and 65 men are knitting; it catches your attention."
