Anything from a fire engine to a telephone box have been popping up in cities all over the world, sporting a colourful knitted coat, as yarn bombing fast becomes one of this years quirkiest trends.
It is being cited as the next big thing, as people take to the streets to create their knitted or crocheted artwork, in the hope of personalizing public spaces.
The city of Crewe has recently experienced its first 'guerrilla knitting attack' as seven scarves adorned a lamppost that was located in Jubilee Gardens – in early preparation for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next year.
The Tree Cozy Project is planning to create vibrant pieces of knitted art in the town centre to replace traditional bunting ahead of the celebrations.
Trees will be fitted with snug knitted jumpers as the whole garden is set to get a woolly makeover.
The organisers, the Crewe and Nantwich Seniors Voice Group say that they want everyone to 'knit their bit' and will be arranging free drop-in workshops over the next 12 months for people who want to get involved.
Are you located near Crewe? Why not team up with the organisers and offer to supply the wool for their creative project?
As yarn bombing continues to grow and cause a stir in cities everywhere, make sure your supply of wool and yarn is fully-stocked ready for the rush!
