Thousands of people made the journey to the Premier Suite of The Reebok Football Stadium in Bolton for the Make it show, which ran from the 18th to the 2th May 2007.
Craft consumers began queuing long before the show was due to open and they were rewarded with a packed hall of crafting products, inspirational ideas, TV celebrities, demonstrations and workshops. Leading craft retailers and manufacturers from all over the UK attended, with many of them launching brand new designs and lines.
Butterfly Kisses, a new company formed by Alison Fraser, artist, designer and educator, and Kim Main, designer and demonstrator for Ideal World and Create and Craft TV, introduced its own range of exclusive rubber stamp designs. Craft Moments imported ‘Pink Cat Studio’ unmounted rubber stamps from Canada especially to launch at the event. Paddy’s Stamping Place also featured inspirational demonstrations and brand new product launches including ‘Exclusive Images’ large A4 plate and Tanda’s complete range of unique stamps.
A number of exhibitors were quick to praise the event. “There is such a friendly atmosphere at this show. I love it - the organisers treat exhibitors as friends and there is always lots of help on hand. The free car parking is a real bonus for visitors,” said Paddy Cosgriff of Paddy’s Stamping Place. Clarity Stamps’ Barbara Santarelli said, “I love this show. The visitors are friendly, the venue is excellent and the organisers second to none.” Rachel Palmer, of Hobby Horse Craft, was particularly pleased with the response to her workshops, “Everyone who has attended has been really enthusiastic. I’ve been delighted with the response to the new Provocraft Cricut. It has been a great show.”
Visitors also voiced their opinion on the show. “I struggle all year to find just the right thing I need. I come to Make it and it’s all here! I have a great time at the show and finding loads of great bargains makes it even better,” said Valerie O’Sullivan, from Blackpool. While Linda Johnson, from Stoke-on-Trent added, “This is the first I’ve been too and it’s wonderful. It has got everything and I will definitely be back next year.”
