Make it is proving to be the fastest growing craft event in the South
The Make it show was launched in 2004 and the event this January, at Thorpe Park, Surrey, will be the fourth to take place. “Make it has grown significantly with visitor numbers rising from 7,500 to an anticipated 15,000 this year. Companies come back year after year with more and more joining the ranks of exhibitors each year,” says Kate Valentine, show organiser for Make it.
The show has developed to include a wider range of crafts. “The main content is dictated to by the most popular crafts but the organisers have worked hard to offer as much variety to visitors as possible,” she says.
Exhibitors at Make it, Thorpe Park, will meet a vast number of potential new buyers over the three days. “Over 150 companies are scheduled to exhibit in January, making the event a sure way for companies to grow their business,” Kate comments. The key aim of Make it is to inspire visitor, to encourage beginners to be adventurous and learn new techniques and for experienced crafters the show offers new and innovative ideas and materials. “This is the the perfect opportunity for everyone to try out something different and learn a new skill.”
Growing businesses
With an estimated 15,000 attendees this event promises to be larger than ever. “The show aims to be bigger, both in terms of exhibitor and visitor numbers, plus the workshop programme has extended to broaden the offering” she adds. “Make it focuses on latest crafting trends and crazes as well as maintaining a good base of established and popular crafts. Both in terms of exhibitors selling and demonstrating innovative materials, tools and kits.”
Make it has become the fastest expanding craft event in the South and, in line with this, has launched a new corporate identity. The show has a new logo, designed to represent a host of new introductions for 2007 and is being released to celebrate the link up with new media sponsors Crafts Beautiful, Quick & Crafty and Let's Make Cards magazines. “The show has grown at an incredible rate and we are determined to ensure ‘make it’ stays fresh and innovative, while retaining everything our visitors love. We are thrilled to be working closely with our new media sponsors this year and have worked hard to ensure we deliver an even more exciting and entertaining event,” comments Kate.
Make it also runs in Bolton in May which has been welcomed by the North West audience and this show is set to expand too.
