Over 300 exhibitors will be showcasing supplies from every aspect of the creative craft industry at Craft, Hobby and Stitch International 2007. Highlights will include art supplies, beads and needlecraft kits, to rubber stamps, fashion and craft fabrics, scrapbooking, threads, yarns, specialist papers and card. This is Europe’s leading trade event for meeting suppliers from 43 countries, getting new ideas and planning for the year ahead
More than 7,000 trade buyers attending the event from 18th to 20th February 2007 at the NEC, Birmingham, will be among the first to find the latest industry trends, new techniques and product launches, as well as meeting brand new companies at the Bright Sparks Pavilion and benefit from over 100 hours of education.
Amongst those featured will be brand new paper craft company, Funky Hand, which will showcase its range of CDs containing contemporary, fun designs for backing papers and borders. “The aim of my CD’s is to give people a wide range of exclusive paper designs, with extensive colour choices which they can use time and again and print for themselves onto any paper or card they want. From a creative craft point of view, the world is their oyster once they have the CD,” comments Anice McNamee of Funky Hands. Specialists in oriental papers and kits, Giles Craft Kits, is showcasing its traditional Yuzen Washi papers, origami packs, die cut stickers and exclusive Mizuhiki Japanese cords packs and accents.
New exhibitor, Sandra’s Accessories, will present its range of high quality bohemian Czech glass beads including a new range of handmade lampwork heart and bead mixes in 12 different colours. “Many of the beads in my range are produced exclusively to my specifications and are all made from high quality Czech glass. Most are used for jewellery making but can also be used for embroidery work, knitting and card making,” says Sandra Bergmane, owner.
Re-established in August 2006 after its demise 300 years ago, Cornish Organic Wool is exhibiting at the show for the first time. In addition to the wool, which is sourced from local organic farmers and spun in Cornwall to DK and Aran weights, Cornish Organic Wool produce knitting kits many of which have Cornish themes. “We have a unique product, not only is it 100% Cornish, but it is also 100% organic. The beauty of the product is that we can trace the wool back to the actual farm. Each ball or kit carries the name of the farm it comes from – the marketing opportunities of Cornish Organic Wool are immense, not only in this country, but also abroad,” says Matt Hopson, proprietor.
