According to new figures, Halloween is now the most lucrative trading period after Christmas and Easter.
In the US, Halloween has always been a big event, however, it has taken much longer for this trend to surface over here. Now, research from information provider Planet Retail has shown that Britons spend £120 million celebrating 31st October, a figure that has grown from £12 million since 2001.
Halloween is now generating more spending than Bonfire Night and Valentine's Day. The Guardian reported that Asda has sold 80,000 more pumpkins so far this year compared to last - a 172% increase - meaning that independent retailers should really be getting in on the act.
