A recent poll has revealed a significant rise in the number of retailers feeling positive about the year ahead, with up to 39% saying their businesses had outperformed their expectations for 2010.
Showing that enterprises in the north-west and south-west had experienced the strongest post-recession recovery – seeing one in five celebrate a strong start to the year – the statistics by insurantz.com, reveal that 24% of retailers and 22% of manufacturers believe they have reasons to be cheerful in 2010, with only six percent experiencing a poor start to the year.
Commenting on the upbeat report, James Pickering, managing director of Insurantz.com, says, “As the vast majority of Britain's 4.8 million businesses are classified as SMEs, it appears that the companies that are the driving force of the economy are seeing UK plc on the slow road to recovery. Just under half of our respondents said that they were seeing 'green shoots' and that is good news for us all, especially whoever is Chancellor after the election.”
