With Christmas fast approaching it is more important than ever for businesses to promote their latest ranges. Val Marshall, owner of Pantiles Papertole Limited, gives us her top tips
The way you display, sell and promote your ranges is essential, so it is important to make sure you really up the ante when it comes to your marketing. Generally speaking, decoupage sheets are not the easiest of items to display, however, we tend to find that using see-through stands and providing additional sheets in folders – similar to those in wool stores – which customers can flick through are great ways of ensuring they get noticed.
Of course, workshops and demonstrations are also worth considering and, these days, customers want to know that the businesses they are buying their supplies from are as knowledgeable and passionate about the goods they are purchasing as they are, if not more. Offering to show them how to use the products first hand will reassure them that you know what you are talking about and can help them make the right decision.
Selling specialist craft magazines and books that cannot be purchased from everyday supermarkets and newsagents is also important, as is keeping up with all the latest trends in the market which will ensure you are always one step ahead of your competitors.
At the end of the day, it is about doing everything you can to differentiate your store from others and the more inventive, original and clever you can be with your marketing, the better the rewards will be.
