If the premise of this year's Stationery & Office Products Show is anything to go by, industry is starting to take green issues seriously. With more consumers making ethical product choices, the event promises a unique buying opportunity for environmentally-concerned retailers. Taking place at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London, on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th April, organisers estimate that half of all exhibitors are using it as a platform to promote their green credentials.
“The green angle is being emphasised as a direct response to the interest shown in this issue by exhibitors, buyers and the industry as a whole,” says Christopher Leonard-Morgan of SOPX organiser, First Events. “Globally and nationally, environmental issues continue to dominate headlines and we are seeing an increased focus at a business-to-business level as more companies recognise the need to establish sound environmental practice. The show presents a major opportunity for buyers to check out which suppliers are either going or have already gone green, to see a wide range of environmentally-friendly and sustainable products, as well as the best of what’s new from over 100 companies.”
Exhibitors with a green offering will be clearly identified and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) will be on hand to provide answers to many of the questions which dealers and retailers are being asked by their customers.
“There is an increasing amount of overlap between craft and stationery, so craft retailers will find SOPX a good place to visit,” says Christopher. “With a number of arts and craft exhibitors, as well as the leading paper and card suppliers, there are plenty of reasons to come to the show.”
Free admission includes a catalogue, complimentary light refreshments and use of a special buyers' lounge. For more information visit the website http://www.sopx.co.uk
